NO. 1 Guangda
Guangda was established in 1988. It is one of the world's largest IT product contract manufacturers and has taken over all OEM and ODM contract manufacturing services. According to incomplete statistics, at least one third of the notebook computers in the world are made by Guangda and are truly "behind-the-scenes heroes". Quanta's OEM products include notebook computers, liquid crystal displays and LCD PCs, mobile phones, PDAs, servers, storage media and other information products, mainly notebook computers. In fact, Quanta is also the world's largest notebook foundry, and has established long-term cooperative relations with well-known domestic and foreign brands such as Dell, HP, Lenovo, Shenzhou, and Apple.
NO. 2 Compal
Compal (Compal) was established in 1984. It is currently the world's second largest notebook foundry. Its scale and strength are second only to Quanta. It mainly deals in notebook computers, monitors, digital consumer products, etc. OEM business. As for notebook computer foundry, it basically covers all sizes and types of products. A 15.4-inch notebook designed by it supports dual hard disks, which is highly praised. Compal's main partners include HP, Toshiba, Lenovo, Dell, etc. Since 2007, Compal has won a large number of orders from Dell from Quanta.
NO. 3 Weichuang
Weichuang (Wistron) was formerly the DMS (Design, Production and Service) department established by Acer Computer in 1981. It became independent in May 2001 and specializes in contract manufacturing. Of course, it is still controlled by Acer. As one of the three pillars of the Pan Acer Group, Wistron is also one of the world's leading foundry manufacturers, ranking and strength second only to Quanta and Compal. Wistron's global partners mainly include Acer, Lenovo, Dell, HP and so on. However, it seems that Weichuang has not officially received the cooperation order in the ultra-portable low-cost mini-book. Previously, Asus Eee PC was jointly manufactured by Heshuo, Acer Aspire One was handed over to Guangda, Dell's E-series was given to Renbao, and Yingyeda was manufactured by HP's Mini-Note small book.
NO. 4 Yingyeda
Yingyeda (Inventec) was established in 1975 and should be regarded as an older generation factory. For a long time, Inventec's main partners are TCL, HP, Toshiba, Mingji, Acer, etc. Most of TCL's notebook products are made by Inventec, while HP is mainly high-end models and low-priced models, such as HP 2133, which has attracted much attention recently. Acer, on the other hand, contracted Acer's first 19-inch notebook in early 2006. Due to the relationship between machine promotion and positioning, inventec's contract manufacturing relationship with Acer has also been little known.
NO. 5 and Shuo
Asus officially completed the separation of brand and contract manufacturing in early 2008. The subsidiary company that was separated is called Heshuo, which is mainly responsible for the contract manufacturing of various IT products. Of course, notebook is still the main product. After the separation, Heshuo has fully replaced the strength and foundation of ASUS OEM. It not only has OEM factories in Taiwan, Shanghai, Jiangsu and other places, but also has subsidiary OEM factories in foreign countries such as Czech Republic. Its strength and specifications cannot be underestimated. However, in the notebook field, it seems that Pegatron should belong to the second-tier OEM factory from the beginning, because the shipment gap compared with the top four OEM factories has obviously widened. But in the past two years, with the obvious improvement of ASUS notebook sales, and the number of shipments has also increased significantly.
NO. 6 Elite - Zhihe
Elite (ECS) has always been mainly engaged in motherboard and graphics card, as well as notebook contract manufacturing. In order to enhance its strength and production capacity in notebook foundry, following the acquisition of Taiwan's victory in 2001, the elite formally acquired the ambition to focus on foundry business again in 2006. In terms of comprehensive strength, it has greatly narrowed the distance with Heshuo, even no worse than Heshuo. Due to Zhihe's greater influence in notebook foundry, there are still many people who will discuss Zhihe more when talking about notebook foundry.
Zhihe (Uniwill), whose name comes from the idiom "like-minded", was established on December 1, 1998. It is regarded as the latest generation factory, headquartered in Wugu Industrial Zone, Taipei, China. Zhihe's operating bases are also all over the world, including the domestic Suzhou Garden factory, the Dutch maintenance center, the US branch, the Austrian customer service center and the Beijing business office. We can see that Zhihe's strength is also not small. In recent years, the vast majority of domestic notebook brands are Zhihe partners, including Shenzhou, Founder, Haier, Tongfang, Xinlan, TCL, Great Wall, etc. In addition, there are many foreign brands, such as Fujitsu-Siemens, Gericom, Trigem, Actebis, Infinity, Maxdata, Sotec, UNTEL, Good Energy, etc.
NO. 7 Volkswagen
Volkswagen (FIC) was established in 1980. In the early days, it focused on motherboard business and later entered the OEM/ODM contract manufacturing market. Its products include desktop, notebook, mobile phone and grid terminal products. Although it is also a relatively old-line foundry, Volkswagen is still only a second-line foundry in the notebook foundry field, with products mainly in the low-end market. Volkswagen's partners include Haier, HP, Lenovo, NEC, Hitachi, etc. However, Volkswagen is not their largest and most important contract manufacturing partner for HP and Lenovo. Although Volkswagen was Lenovo's chief contract manufacturing company when Lenovo first entered the notebook computer and motherboard field on a large scale, as Lenovo's shipments continue to grow and contract manufacturing needs are dispersed, the focus of contract manufacturing gradually shifts to other contract manufacturing companies, including Quanta, Compal and Wistron, etc.
NO. 8 Flextronics - Huayu
Huayu (Arima) was established in 1989 and ranks among the 2. third-tier manufacturers in notebook and server foundry industries. Unable to bear the pressure of falling profits in the PC industry, Huayu sold the entire notebook computer and server related departments to Flextronics (Flextronics), the world's second largest electronic manufacturing service provider (EMS), in 2007, including related assets such as plant, equipment, technology and inventory, as well as all its shares in Japan, Texas, California and the United Kingdom. Although it has been transferred to Flextronics, when it comes to notebook foundry, Huayu is still one of the foundry brands that people soak in music. In the past, Huayu's contract customers were mainly Gateway and Amoi. Now Gateway has switched to Guangda and Amoi has withdrawn from the notebook market. Huayu's contract partners appear to be withered, but they still hold many large orders abroad.
NO. 9 Shenji
Shenji (Mitac) was established in 1989. It is a joint venture of Shenda Computer and American Singular Electric Company. It provides research and development and manufacturing of solid computers for national defense. It is one of the few companies in China that has the ability to develop and produce special specifications for military industry. In 1998, in order to pursue scale and business performance, Shenda Computer merged the notebook computer division into Shenji, and since then Shenji has stepped into the ranks of commercial and consumer notebook computer foundry production. Shenji's research and development strength cannot be ignored. It is said that the world's first notebook with desktop Intel Pentium4 processors is from Shenji. However, due to the late start in the field of notebook foundry, it is not very familiar.
Shenji currently has production bases in Shunde, Guangdong and Kunshan, Shanghai, and notebook computers are mainly produced in Kunshan factories. Shenji's notebook contract customers are mainly some foreign brands, while some models of Mingji are in China. In fact, Shenji was once Lenovo's main foundry, but due to Shenji's focus on military laptops and little interest in civilian laptops, coupled with Lenovo's harsh requirements and long payment cycle, the foundry relationship between the two was eventually interrupted. Most of Lenovo's previous Zhaoyang series notebooks were made by Shenji.
NO. 10 Blue Sky
Blue Sky (CLEVO) was established in 1983. It was once brilliant in the early days and won many "firsts" in the industry. It was one of the top first-line OEM factories at that time, and its status was no less than that of Weichuang now. However, with the increasingly fierce competition in Taiwan's contract manufacturing market and the sharp decline in profits, Blue Sky urgently needed to find more outlets, so it invested in the Bainaohui (Buynow) electronic store in 1998 and invested more energy in the transformation into IT manufacturing and service interaction in the following years. At present, Blue Sky mainly focuses on the foundry of notebooks of 17 inches or more, and has made a lot of profits in the high-end gaming notebook market, and has also achieved good results in the European and American markets. Blue sky foundry partners are mainly foreign brands, domestic only a few.
